ARGH have a new messageboard

The ARGH messageboard is an online forum offering a safe autistic space for our members : it is not viewable by others outside of ARGH. If you'd like to connect with other autistic people across the Highlands or find out more about what ARGH are doing then please join up. We will also use the space to discuss any consultations / local issues / anything that ARGH members feel is worth talking about. If you'd like to contribute to our monthly meetings but can't get along then you can use the messageboard to join in. Even if you've never used a messageboard before please give it a go; it's important that we hear what you have to say. If you have any questions or would like to join email webmaster@arghighland.co.uk

Draft Scottish Autism Strategy Bill published - Consultation Hugh O'Donnell MSP has published his proposal for a draft Scottish Autism Strategy Bill in the Scottish Parliament. There will be three months of public consultation before MSPs decide if the proposal will go on to be debated as a draft bill. The consultation document is available here (click me)

Hugh's proposal is based on implementing the Autism Act that passed through Westminster Parliament last year but only applied to England. It would require the Scottish Government to put in place a national ASD strategy and to place appropriate duties on councils and health boards that will support its implementation. To support the campaign and as part of the consultation, a Partners in Autism event has been scheduled on Thursday 11th February at Inshes Church in Inverness. This event will provided interested parties with information about the campaign and how you can contribute. For more information, Tel 01463 720056 or go to www.autism.org.uk
